Amontillado sherry

Amontillado sherry

  • Vermouth & fortified wines
  • Alcoholic

Amontillado is a style of sherry, the fortified wine of the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry appellation in Andalusia. It starts life as a fino, protected by a layer of yeast called flor; then the flor dies away and the wine continues ageing in contact with oxygen. The result is a dry, amber wine with aromas of hazelnut, spice and wood. Rounder and more intense than fino, it adds depth and toasty notes to cocktails such as the Sherry Cobbler.
