Blanc vermouth
- Vermouth & fortified wines
- Alcoholic
Blanc vermouth is a wine aromatised with wormwood and other botanicals, fortified with alcohol and sweetened, pale straw to amber in colour. The style was born in Chambéry, in Savoy, where Dolin created it in the late nineteenth century; today it is also made in Italy as 'bianco'. It is sweeter and more floral than dry vermouth, often with a hint of vanilla. In cocktails it softens and perfumes, as in the El Presidente with white rum and curaçao.
Strength: usually 15% ABV (legal minimum 14.5%).
Used in 1 cocktail.
