Melon liqueur
- Liqueurs
- Alcoholic
Melon liqueur is a sweet, bright green liqueur flavoured with fragrant-fleshed melons, such as muskmelons and Japanese Yubari melons. The category spread from 1978, when a Japanese brand launched it in New York for the American market. It tastes intense and candy-like, of ripe melon with a hint of green apple. It is used in small doses to add fruit and colour to sours and long drinks such as the Tokyo Iced Tea.
Strength: usually 20% ABV (legal minimum 15%).
Also known as: Midori
