Banana
- Fresh
- Non-alcoholic
The banana is the fruit of large herbaceous plants of the genus Musa, native to tropical South-East Asia and Australia; the Cavendish cultivar dominates world trade. As it ripens, the starch in the flesh turns into sugar and the flavour becomes sweeter and more fragrant. In cocktails it is mostly blended with ice, ideally very ripe, as in the Frozen Banana Daiquiri, where it adds creamy body and sweetness; a slice also works as a garnish.
Also known as: Ripe banana
