The story
Origins
LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.
The Banana Daiquiri is one of the most popular frozen Daiquiri variations, but its origin is undocumented. The most cited tradition places its birth in the 1950s at Mountain Top, a scenic bar on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands; some sources credit an English sea captain, George Soule, and give the year 1953, without offering any evidence. Difford's Guide instead credits the legendary tiki bartender Harry K. Yee, said to have added banana to the Daiquiri at the Hawaiian Village Hotel in Waikiki. The two stories may describe parallel inventions.
