The corn gives it a rounded sweetness, balanced by notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted oak and brown sugar. Under US rules it is bottled at no less than 40% ABV. In cocktails it is the base of classics such as the Old Fashioned, the Mint Julep and the Boulevardier.
