Texas Iced Tea
Long Island with a drawl.
A Long Island Iced Tea variation that adds bourbon to the already long line-up of white spirits. Citrus, sugar and cola round it off, but it remains a very strong long drink to be sipped with care.

The story
Origins
LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.
The Texas Iced Tea is one of many variations born in the wake of the Long Island Iced Tea, the multi-spirit long drink that mimics the look of iced tea. The Texan version stands out mainly for the addition of bourbon or whiskey, while the other components follow the parent recipe. According to a widespread but unverifiable story, the drink was born at TGI Fridays restaurants around 1980, and the name may have been a marketing choice playing on Texan pride. We found neither a documented inventor nor a datable first printed recipe, and the versions in circulation vary considerably.
