- Non-alcoholic
Cocktail cream of coconut is a thick, very sweet preparation made from coconut cream or juice, sugar and thickeners. It should not be confused with coconut milk or with unsweetened culinary coconut cream, which are richer in fat and contain almost no sugar. It was created in Puerto Rico in the late 1940s and is tied to the birth of the Piña Colada. It gives body, sweetness and coconut flavour to drinks such as the Bahia, the Amaretto Colada and the Acapulco Gold.
