The story
Origins
LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.
The origins of the Acapulco Gold are undocumented. The name recalls the famous Mexican beach resort, and the drink indeed pairs tequila with rum and tropical juices, with a little coconut cream that brings it close to the colada family. The only recipe found under this name is published on a user-contributed recipe site, with no information on author, period or bar of origin. It should not be confused with the Acapulco, a different rum-based cocktail, nor with the alcohol-free version circulating under the same name. The wording 'Acapulco Gold Colada' was not found in any source and is probably a descriptive name.
