Elderflower syrup
- Syrups
- Non-alcoholic
Elderflower syrup is made by steeping the blossoms of the European elder in sugar and water with lemon, then straining the liquid. In many parts of Europe, such as South Tyrol, it is made at home in early summer when the plant blooms; in Britain a similar preparation is called a cordial. It tastes sweet and floral, with a citrus freshness. It is diluted with still or sparkling water and is a classic ingredient of the Hugo.
Used in 1 cocktail.
