Grappa is a pomace brandy, made from the skins and seeds left after grapes are pressed, which are fermented and distilled in Italy; the name is reserved for Italian products. It can be young and white or aged in wood, and aromatic grapes such as Moscato give floral, fragrant notes. The taste ranges from fresh and winey to soft and spicy. It is mostly sipped neat, but in cocktails it adds an intense grape character in small doses.
Strength: usually 40% ABV (legal minimum 37.5%).
Also known as: White smooth grappa
Used in 1 cocktail.
