The story

Origins

DocumentedOrigin attested by written sources of the time.

Ve.N.To was devised by Italian bartenders Samuele Ambrosi, vice president of AIBES, and Leonardo Veronesi as part of the Grappa Revolution promotional project. The name is an acronym joining Veneto and Trentino, regions historically tied to grappa, and also echoes the Italian word 'vento', wind. The aim was to present grappa as Italy's signature spirit, pairing it with honey along well-established lines. It became the first grappa-based cocktail on the official IBA list, in the New Era category: according to Wikipedia in the list published in 2020, and it was already described as an IBA cocktail by September 2021. The sources consulted do not give an exact creation date.
