Green Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by the Carthusian monks to a secret recipe of 130 plants; the producer dates its creation to 1840. It is now distilled at Aiguenoire, in the Isère, and aged for a long time in large oak vats; its green colour is natural and comes from macerating the herbs. On the palate it is powerful and herbaceous, with mint, pine, citrus and pepper, carried by a very high strength. It stars in the Last Word, the Chartreuse Swizzle and the Tipperary.
Strength: usually 55% ABV (legal minimum 15%).
Used in 3 cocktails.
