Jamaican overproof white rum
- Spirits
- Alcoholic
Jamaican overproof white rum is an unaged cane spirit made in Jamaica and bottled at very high strength, usually around 63% ABV. The aroma is pungent and fruity, with pineapple, very ripe banana, spice and the estery note typical of Jamaican rum. The taste is bold and the finish long. In cocktails only a little is used, often half an ounce or less, to add structure and character to punches and tiki drinks.
Strength: usually 63% ABV (legal minimum 37.5%).
Used in 1 cocktail.

Jamaican rum works
Only works with a high-proof, high-ester pot-still Jamaican rum and the amount needs adjusting; a standard 40% Jamaican rum gives less punch and less funk.
