Sloe gin
- Liqueurs
- Alcoholic
Sloe gin is a British liqueur, not a gin: it is made by steeping sloes, the small blue fruit of the wild blackthorn, in gin with added sugar for several months. Traditionally the berries are picked after the first frosts. It is ruby red, with a dark-fruit flavour, sweet yet pleasantly tart, with juniper underneath and an almond note drawn from the stones. It is sipped on its own or mixed into cocktails such as the Angel's Delight.
Strength: usually 26% ABV (legal minimum 25%).
Used in 1 cocktail.
