Grand Margarita
The Margarita, dressed up.
100% agave tequila, Grand Marnier and lime, served on ice in a salt-rimmed glass. The cognac-based orange liqueur makes the Margarita rounder, warmer and more aromatic.

The story
Origins
LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.
The Grand Margarita is the version of the Margarita in which triple sec gives way to Grand Marnier, the French cognac-based orange liqueur. In the United States it is best known as the Cadillac Margarita: according to Difford's Guide, this version became famous in the 1980s thanks to the El Torito restaurant chain in Southern California, which promoted it, but there is no documented inventor. The origins of the Margarita itself remain uncertain: among many stories, the earliest known recipe under that name was published by Esquire in December 1953. In revising its official list, the IBA adopted the name Grand Margarita and a recipe served on the rocks.
