Yellow Chartreuse

- Alcoholic
Yellow Chartreuse is a herbal liqueur made by the Carthusian monks of the Grande Chartreuse, in France, from 130 plants, barks, roots and spices. It appeared in the nineteenth century as a sweeter, softer version of Green Chartreuse; the herbs are distilled and macerated, then the liqueur matures in large oak vats and takes on a natural yellow colour. The flavour combines honey, citrus, anise and balsamic notes. In cocktails it adds sweetness and depth, as in the Alaska and the Naked and Famous.
Strength: usually 43% ABV (legal minimum 15%).
Used in 3 cocktails.
