Bacardi Cocktail
Pink, zesty, Cuban.
White rum, lime and grenadine, shaken and served ice-cold. It is essentially a Daiquiri blushed pink, with grenadine softening the lime's tartness with a fruity note.

The story
Origins
DocumentedOrigin attested by written sources of the time.
The Bacardi Cocktail has Cuban roots and is a close relative of the Daiquiri: originally it was probably the same mix of rum, lime and sugar, made with Bacardi rum. A recipe under this name appears in 1922 in Robert Vermeire's Cocktails: How to Mix Them, still with sugar syrup. Grenadine, which gives it its pink colour, seems to be a later addition, popularised in the United States after Prohibition. In 1936 Bacardi sued two New York establishments that made it with other rums, and on 28 April the New York Supreme Court ruled that a Bacardi Cocktail must contain Bacardi rum. Since 2020 it is no longer on the IBA list.
