White rum

White rum

  • Alcoholic

White rum is a sugarcane spirit, usually made from molasses, light and dry; it is often rested briefly in casks and then charcoal-filtered to leave it clear or faintly straw-coloured. The Cuban and Puerto Rican styles, made in continuous column stills, are the classic models of light rum. The flavour is delicate, with gentle hints of vanilla, cane and fruit. It is the base of the Daiquiri, Mojito and Bacardi Cocktail, where it lets citrus and sugar come through.

Strength: usually 37.5% ABV (legal minimum 37.5%).
