Sex on the Beach
Peachy, juicy, carefree.
Vodka and peach schnapps meet orange and cranberry juice in a sweet, fruity long drink. Easy to make and easier to drink, it became the emblem of 1980s holiday cocktails.

The story
Origins
LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.
The origins of Sex on the Beach are uncertain. The most popular account places it in Florida in 1987: to launch a new peach schnapps, a distributor supposedly ran a spring-break contest among bars, and a bartender named Ted at Confetti's mixed schnapps, vodka, orange juice and grenadine, naming it after the beach crowds. The dates undermine the story, though: a recipe with the same name and peach schnapps already appears in 1982 in an American Bartenders School guide. Many see it as a Fuzzy Navel crossed with a Cape Codder; today cranberry juice has replaced the grenadine.
