The story

Origins

LegendA story passed down, not confirmed by the sources.

The Watermelon Mojito is one of many fruit variations on the Mojito, the Cuban long drink of rum, lime, sugar, mint and soda. The sources consulted name no inventor, bar or date of birth: it is a variation that spread informally through bars and home kitchens, and published recipes differ considerably. Some muddle chopped watermelon in the glass, others use juiced or strained watermelon, and others add spices such as sumac, berries or passion fruit liqueur. The version given here stays close to the classic Mojito, with the watermelon muddled together with lime and sugar.
