Lime
- Fresh
- Non-alcoholic
The lime is a citrus fruit native to tropical South-East Asia; the most widely grown is the Persian lime (Citrus × latifolia), large and almost seedless, while the Key lime is smaller and seedy. It has a very aromatic green peel and distinctly sour flesh. Here the fruit is meant, not the juice: in the Caipirinha and the Caipirissima it is cut into pieces and muddled in the glass or shaker, releasing juice and peel oils; a wheel serves as garnish.
